Session A9
plus support
"The best band to come out of Scotland in 100 years" - Dougie Maclean
"Tighter than James Brown" - Charlie Reid, The Proclaimers
"One of the best ***** bands I've heard in my life" - Director of Tonder
Festival (the greatest folk festival in the world).
Dubbed "Scotland's Supergroup", Session A9 return to Victoria Hall this September after playing one of the finest shows we've ever had at SaltaireLive on their last visit.
Four fiddlers plus a four piece rhythm section, Session A9 burst onto the Scottish music scene almost 5 years ago. However, due to commitments in their other bands, Session A9 only get together periodically, and almost always for shows in Scotland, where they have a cult following. This year they play just 4 English shows, including Saltaire.
This is group playing par excellence - 4 of Scotland's finest traditional fiddlers giving it the full treatment, whether in complex interplay or a full unison assualt, powered by a gutsy rhythm section as tight and inventive as any in traditional music. Hear 2 tracks at www.myspace.com/sessiona9
